A SILOBELA man is living in fear after his son threatened to chop him to pieces.
Zivai Tirivangani has dragged his son, Tinovimba Tirivangani, to court, seeking a protection order against him.
He fears his son could kill him because of his perennial violent tendencies.
“He always threatens to chop me with an axe into pieces.
“He is my biological son and I took him from his maternal uncle’s homestead in Zhombe because he was sick.
“I got him treated and he is fine but he is now violent to the extent that he threatens to kill me, “ said Tirivangani.
The respondent argued that his father was refusing to give him transport to go back to his maternal grandparents.
This, he claimed, has led him to become violent in a bid to be granted his request.
“He took me from my mother’s relatives in Zhombe when I was sick but he now refuses to give me money for transport to go back to Zhombe.
“He is the one who attacked me first so I was retaliating.
“I just want him to give me money so that I go back to Zhombe because he promised to finance my trip back but he has since changed his mind,” said Tinovimba.
The court advised Zivanai to have his son’s mental status assessed since he appeared to be mentally unstable.
Magistrate Mildred Matuvi granted the application for a protection order and ordered the respondent to maintain peace with his father.
