SONGANI EXTENDS STAY AT ICELANDIC SIDE VESTRI

ZIMBABWE international midfielder, Silas Songani, has extended his union with Icelandic side Vestri by another season.

His agreement with Vestri was expected to run down at the end of this campaign but his contributions left the club with no option but to tie him for another season.

The former FC Platinum forward played a significant role when Vestri sneaked into the Premiership, through the play-offs, after finishing fourth in the championship last season.

Songani powered Vestri’s quest for promotion with 10 goals two seasons ago.

In the just ended campaign, the dreadlocked midfielder netted twice and provided eight assists.

Former Warriors midfielder, Kundai Benyu, also had a stint with Vestri when they were still battling for a top-flight ticket. Songani told Zimpapers Sports that the extension of his contract has presented him a chance to leave a mark at the club.

“It’s been a good journey for me, this club has given me a lot, the support from the fans, players and coaches has made it tough for me to look elsewhere.

“This agreement shows that they have an appreciation of my efforts and I believe I can still do better next season.

“This means a lot to me and I felt the love when I was offered the privilege to renew my contract.

“I believe I have what it takes to play for the Warriors and I will never give up on that wish, I still have a chance to do more of the talking on the field to prove what I can offer on the table,” said Songani.
