LOCAL commercial radio station Skyz Metro FM will celebrate two years of broadcasting with a bash.
Affectionately known as “Umcimbi Wabantu” the party will be held on September 29, the last day of the Intwasa Festival KoBulawayo which started running on 26 September, at the Large City Hall car park.
Unlike its first birthday anniversary held at the White City Stadium where the station had a youthful line-up which included South African Kwaito kingpin Professor, Stiff, Madlela Skhobokhobo and Ammara Brown, this time around they are bringing nostalgic old school headline acts.
South African mbaqanga legends Soul Brothers are the main acts alongside veteran jazzman Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Madlela Skhobokhobo and South Africa-based maskandi musician Zinja Ziyamluma.
Skyz Metro FM station manager Godwin Phiri said it would be a show to remember.
“We have harnessed our collective energies to ensure that Bulawayo gets a great show. I am proud to say that everything is ready as all the artistes we are expecting, including the mbaqanga Legends Soul Brothers, have confirmed their participation.
“We partnered with Intwasa because they are a brand that as Skyz Metro can relate with and if anyone wants to have fun with us, the Large City Hall car park is the place to be on 29 September,” said Phiri.
Supporting acts will include Khuxxman, Msiz’Kay, Simunye Arts, Knowledge Nkiwane, Ramsey, Renovation Boys, SolNative Muziq, Cue Movement, Mkhosi, DJ Klasic, DJ Eugy, to mention only a few.
Tickets for Umcimbi Wabantu are $5 with the VIP Tickets pegged at $25.
