Soul Jah Love in no-show

Weekender Reporter
PROBLEM child and dancehall star Soul Jah Love last Friday failed to turn up for his much-anticipated show at Gwinyai Bar, popularly known as Bako, in Sakubva. The dread-locked musician, who is currently riding high with the chart-buster Kuponda Nhamo, was in the UK where he was holding a series of shows. He reportedly failed to come back to Zimbabwe in time for the show in Mutare.

Hundreds of revellers who had paid their way in to watch the celebrated yet controversial chanter were left disappointed after learning about the development.

Show promoter and club proprietor Given Shumba calmed the storm after playing a recording done by Soul Jah Love apologising to his fans and promising to make up for the botched how.

The seemingly soothed fans were treated to some dancehall music by various local wheel spinners until the wee hours of Saturday.

“We learnt that Soul Jah Love was not coming at around 7 pm in the evening and it was difficult to tame the wild fans who could not believe us. He told me that he could not come to Zimbabwe in time. The fans were disappointed, but we are happy that the situation was in control,” he said.

The Ndini Uya Uya hitmaker is now scheduled to perform at the same venue on May 29 on a show dubbed: “Apology show”.
