THE Zifa Southern Region Division One League will hold its mid-season review meeting on Friday at a local hotel as officials and club representatives assess the progress of the campaign and map the way forward for the second half of the season.
The meeting is expected to bring together representatives from all clubs competing in the league, with discussions centred on the overall performance of the competition and areas requiring improvement.
One of the major issues set to dominate deliberations is the failure by some clubs to fulfil their fixtures, a challenge that has affected the smooth running of the league this season.
Zifa Southern Region board member Tizirayi Luphahla said while the campaign had generally progressed well, the league wanted to engage clubs on the importance of honouring all fixtures.
“The aim is just to discuss how the league has gone so far,” said Luphahla.
“The major problem is some teams failing to fulfil their games and it’s sad when that happens. It is something that we will talk about with the teams and see how we can ensure all teams fulfil their fixtures.
“The league has gone well.”
Failure to fulfil fixtures has remained one of the biggest challenges in lower-tier football, with clubs often struggling with financial and logistical constraints that affect travel and match-day preparations.
League officials are expected to impress upon clubs the need to uphold the integrity of the competition by ensuring that all scheduled matches are played.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for clubs to raise concerns and make recommendations on issues affecting the administration of the league as preparations begin for the second half of the season.
The Southern Region Division One League continues to provide a platform for clubs aspiring to gain promotion to the Premier Soccer League, making consistency and professionalism key to maintaining the credibility of the competition.
Friday’s meeting is expected to conclude with stakeholders agreeing on measures aimed at improving the remainder of the season and ensuring a smoother run-in as the race for promotion gathers momentum.
