THE Zimbabwe Special Olympics Committee has named Daphane Hove as the head of delegation for the 2027 Special Olympics World Games to be held in Santiago, Chile, in October 2027.
Hove will be deputised by seasoned administrator Tinashe Duri.
Hove said she is happy to be part of Team Zimbabwe.
“I am glad to have been appointed the Head of Delegation for these major games. I am geared up to contribute fully to this task and to work alongside my deputy.
“As SOZ we look forward to a new chapter of the Global Special Olympics movement and we use sport to empower people with intellectual disabilities by promoting inclusion and unlock human potential.
“The organisation recently hosted its National Games in Masvingo, which brought together athletes from across the country to compete and earn selection into Team Zimbabwe.
“Athletes competed in sports codes athletics, golf, bocce, unified seven-a-side soccer and unified 3×3 basketball, showcasing remarkable talent, determination and resilience,” said Hove.
The Special Olympics World Games will bring together more than 6000 athletes from more than 170 countries, offering a powerful platform for inclusion and international recognition.
