ZIMBABWE and Spain are poised to deepen their bilateral relations, with fresh opportunities for co-operation in tourism, agriculture, arts, and education set to emerge, outgoing Spanish Ambassador Isabel Bonilla has said.
She made the remarks at State House yesterday after paying a farewell courtesy call on President Mnangagwa, marking the end of her three-year diplomatic tenure in Zimbabwe.
“We have agreed that there is always room to improve, to do things together, but we are starting from a very consolidated and strong base. We have opened space for new developments. So we are very happy with what we have done and what can still be done,” she said.
She said relations between the two countries had grown steadily, supported by a warm and constructive dialogue with the Zimbabwean Government.
She expressed satisfaction with the progress made and optimism about future prospects.
On her meeting with the President, Ambassador Bonilla said: “It’s been very good, it’s always very good, very direct, very warm.”
She pointed to key areas of bilateral co-operation, including tourism, agriculture, arts, and education, as sectors that have seen positive collaboration.
“It’s always been the tourism, agriculture which came in as a positive. It’s been art, education — those are our strong, I would say, fields of bilateral co-operation,” she said.
She praised Zimbabwe as “a wonderful country full of beautiful people” and expressed optimism that the relationship between the two nations would continue to grow.
