Spare a thought for Take Money

ON February 26, Kudakwashe ‘Take Money’ Chiwandire cruised to victory over Zambian, Catherine Phiri, in Lusaka.

She became the World Boxing Council interim bantamweight champion.

But, her defence of her title could not have gone any worse.

She was slated to fight Zulina Munoz of Mexico, on Saturday, but she might find herself losing the battle without throwing a punch.

Her stable, Delta Force, are struggling to meet the financial demands of hosting the fight.

The prestigious bout has been postponed twice before.

Delta Force director and trainer, Clyde Musonda, said it will be a big blow for her.

“Kuda went through the most difficult way to win that belt.

“It will be totally unfair for her to just lose it without throwing a punch.

“Considering the lady went over 10 rounds to win it, I think it will be unfair for her, and future generations, who should be inspired by her.

“She is a girl child who brought the country some glory through her pain. “She deserves a chance to defend her title, and it will be unfortunate and unfair for her to lose without throwing a punch,” he said.
