Spare kids from vulgar language

one hell of a party where the who is who in local rap featured.

People, I am told, were given a five-star performance by these Americans although they felt Timbaland, who was supposed to be part of the crew, let everyone and the show down.
In fact, my man and colleague Kayaman was so low about the no-presence of Timbaland that he demanded that the show organiser at least reimburse some part of the money fans had paid.

Although I didn’t manage to attend the show due to some personal commitments, those who attended say they had the time of their lives listening to some of the greatest voices in world rap.
However, there were some sections who were not so amused by the show that they thought the show organisers would have made sense by putting the mandatory sticker on rap records “Parental Guidance Advised” as the show was a foul-mouthed affair.

Fat Joe, one of the most consistent rappers in the game, is said to have spewed foul-mouthed lyrics which were not fit for such an occasion where there were little kids and families as well.
I am not saying all the people who were there were quite disturbed by the lyrics as some really enjoyed them but to be forewarned is to be forearmed as the gurus of life say.

I still remember some time back when I went to this place in one of these suburbs and while we were dancing to old school music and making merry, suddenly these ladies appeared and started stripping off their clothes to their very least.

I was shocked but all the other folks who were in the know about the happenings at that place looked very comfy and didn’t care a bit about what was going on. In fact, they were cool with it because they knew what was going to come.

What I’m saying is it’s high time authorities monitored closely what goes on at these shows. I know a lot of kids sneak into these shows by hook or crook and exposing them to such lyrics and choreographs is not good.
I still remember some time back when the great Drake had a performance in Trinidad and used language the authorities were not comfortable with and had to caution the rapper after his show.

Drake was a bit confused about the caution as he thought all he did was above board but the Trinidadians were not amused by his act.
Beenie Man, a Jamaican native, was also taken in by the police and fined when he used lyrics during a show which were deemed inappropriate.

I am not trying to be a moral policeman as the kind of music I enjoy has some of the coarsest and vulgar lyrics and my all-time favourite rap group NWA (Niggaz with Attitude) was once described by Rolling Stone Magazine as “the godfathers of gutter language”.

I like to listen to their music and to say the truth they have been an inspiration in my line of work as well as my life in general, but I would never feel comfortable listening to NWA in the presence of my son and daughter.

In fact, I would never let my children listen to some of these rap lyrics without first listening to them and grasping the content and their language first.
I think when it comes to some of these shows the promoters need to forewarn the prospective crowd about the kind of content that would be on show.

I am hearing some of the older folks at the show could not stomach Lil Kim’s performance, as it was some kind of soft porn.
There should be a cut-off age at some of these shows as you see snort-nosed kids at some of these shows, and that should be adhered to strictly as we might expose our children to material which is not for their age and might influence them somehow.

Anyway, I believe these international artistes are doing our country good especially at this time when we are being labelled a pariah country.
They are coming, doing their shows, leaving with the hard to find US dollars and showing that we are a wonderful and friendly country.
