THE Speaker of the National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, has arrived in Victoria Falls, where he is expected to be one of the key speakers at the Religious Liberty Festival, marking a significant endorsement of interfaith dialogue.
The festival is being hosted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL), in collaboration with various faith-based partners.
It is being held under the theme: Celebrating Religious Liberty and Peaceful Inter-Faith Co-existence in Zimbabwe.
It aims to foster unity, dialogue and understanding among diverse religious communities.
Advocate Mudenda is scheduled to address the gathering on the Religious Liberty legal framework in Zimbabwe.
His address is expected to delve into the constitutional guarantees under Section 40 of the national charter and the importance of upholding these rights as pillars of a democratic society.
He will share the platform with other distinguished guests, including former Zambian Ambassador to the United States, Palani Mulonda; Chairman of the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe, Dr Kupukile Mlambo, Advocate Mxolisi Ncube Human Resources Director for the Southern Africa Indian Ocean Division.
The day-long programme commenced with a march to the venue at 7:30am, followed by a series of musical presentations, youth drills and messages from dignitaries.
Key highlights will include a Prayer for Peaceful Co-existence, an address on Threats to Religious Liberty in Africa by Advocate Ncube, and a session on Financial Freedom by Dr Mlambo.
The event precedes workshops that were held on Friday, focusing on Christians in public office, business ethics and start-up funding opportunities.
