The GOVERNMENT has set up specialised courts and support services for victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to provide them with necessary resources and assistance to seek justice.
Addressing the media on 16 Days of Activism against GBV yesterday, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, said through legislative reforms, the Government has improved the legal framework to ensure the safety and well-being of women and girls.
He said Government had also collaborated with the private sector to highlight problems faced by women and girls with disabilities, including GBV.
“Our efforts aim to create a society where every individual, regardless of their abilities, can live a life free from discrimination and violence as we improve justice for all,” said Minister Ziyambi.
The theme for this year’s 16 Days of Activism against GBV is “Unite! Invest in Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls”.
The theme emphasises the need for a comprehensive approach to preventing violence against women and girls by the Government, stakeholders and society at large.
