South Africa’s celebrated Gospel ensemble, Spirit of Praise (SOP), is set to return to Bulawayo in November following its well-received performance in the city last year.
The ensemble is scheduled to perform at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) on November 22 as part of the Spirit of Praise 12 Bulawayo Tour.
The show will bring together a line-up of South African and Zimbabwean Gospel musicians, with Xola Toto, Nothando Hlophe, Mpumi Mtsweni, Sindi Ntombela, Ziyanda Tshangana, Takie Ndou, Omega Khunou, Dumi Mkokstad, Everton Mlalazi and Pastor Mthunzi Namba among those listed to perform.
The local artistes set to feature on the show are expected to be announced soon.
The return comes after Spirit of Praise attracted Gospel music lovers when it performed in Bulawayo last year.
Interest in this year’s show has already started building up, with some fans indicating that they are looking forward to the ensemble’s return.
A fan, identified as Praise Chibinjana on Facebook, said she had already secured her ticket for the show.
“I have secured my ticket all the way from Harare and I will be there,” she said.
Another fan, Nomsa Florence Majama, said she was looking forward to seeing the Gospel musicians perform in the city.
“I have been waiting for this. I can’t wait to see my favourite Gospel outfit performing live in my home city,” she said.
Spirit of Praise has become a prominent name in African Gospel music through its ensemble-based performances, bringing together established Gospel musicians for large-scale live shows.
The group’s third return to Bulawayo adds another major Gospel event to the city’s entertainment calendar.
