A 24-year-old commercial sex worker was reportedly raped in a public toilet by a client after she refused to render sexual favours before  payment. The woman was allegedly raped by Pedzisai Magama, 25, from Makokoba suburb who dragged her to Makokoba Farmers’ Market public toilet before raping her on the floor during the wee hours of August 31.

Magama who met the woman at Royal Club along Lobengula Street in Bulawayo, appeared before magistrate Sibongile Msipa yesterday and was remanded in custody to September 16.

Prosecuting, Tafadzwa Mutsambiwa told the court that on August 31, Magama met the woman at the night club and requested sex.
She agreed to have sexual intercourse for a fee of $15.

They left the club at 3AM and headed to Magama’s residence in Makokoba. Upon arrival Magama failed to pay the $15 resulting in the woman withdrawing her consent and leaving the accused at his house.

She started walking towards Luveve Road where she intended to get transport to Entumbane where she resides. Magama followed and caught up with her along the road. Along the way Magama informed the woman that he wanted to escort her to the nearest bus stop.
While on their way, Magama told her that they should go back to Royal Club.

He then grabbed her by her jean trousers and force-marched her into a nearby Makokoba Farmers’ Market toilet.
Magama tripped her to the floor and she fell facing upwards, Mutsambiwa said. He allegedly stripped her and raped her once without a condom.

He then dressed up and left her in the public toilet.
