SOUTH African Division One side Witbank Spurs’ midfielder Patrick Mubaiwa believes the side will survive relegation.
Mubaiwa rejoined the club recently with his twin brother Peter after failed moves to Premiership sides. They are eager to see Spurs move up the log.
Both couldn’t secure work permits in good time forcing them to retrace their steps to their former side where they made a name for themselves.
“Seeing my team fighting in the relegation zone isn’t pleasing at all. My brother and I joined the team when the league programme had started. We tried our best to help the team but we had back luck as the team lost game after game.
“We played well but scoring was a huge challenge. I’ve been in the game for quite some time but what is happening to the team right now is a bad,” said Mubaiwa.
Mubaiwa, who retained the captaincy, hasn’t scored a goal since he rejoined the team a few months ago but is determined to put everything right when the league resumes early next year.
He didn’t travel home for the festive break because of a bereavement.
“I didn’t travel home this festive season as I was in South Africa burying my father-in-law a few weeks ago. But I will be doing a lot of individual training to keep myself sharp for our team’s first training sessions at the beginning of January.”
Former Highlanders striker Cleopas Dube is one of the chief strikers in the team with four goals so far.
