THE Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) are pushing for pre-sale tickets for associations whose leagues have been allowed spectators to avoid congestion at turnstiles, which could potentially breach Covid-19 protocols.
Authorities have allowed limited fans at sporting events as the country gradually opens up following the recent success in taming the virus.
Social distancing is one of the key health guidelines to prevent spreading the disease. In a statement yesterday, the SRC explained the rationale behind varying the number of spectators for different sports codes.
Football, for example, is allowed to let in 2 000 spectators, while rugby and cricket can have a maximum 250 and 1000 fans respectively.
“In the case of events to be held in stadia, 30 percent sitting capacity of fully vaccinated spectators are allowable. As for events and activities held outside the confines of stadia and/or in open spaces created and approved for sporting activities, a maximum of 250 spectators are allowable,” said the SRC.
“All spectators should be fully vaccinated. Spectators must bring their vaccination cards to the events venue for inspection, including positive identification.”
Standard zoning of the stadia or venue to separate players, technical staff and others in the teams’ bio-secure bubbles is expected.
The sale of tickets before events is also actively encouraged.
“As such, organisers are therefore encouraged to make arrangements for presale tickets or similar other mechanisms of admitting spectators to improve logistical controls and minimise chances of crowding and breach of Covid-19 protocols.”
Spectators are expected to be evenly distributed across all bays or zones, while there will be separate gate entry points.
The regulator also demanded details of spectators to be captured by event organisers.
“Detailed nominal lists of spectators admitted to the event to be placed at designated gate entry points to respective bays for inspection by venue security details.
“Those not on the list shall be outrightly denied access to enter the venue.
“Association Covid-19 compliance teams will maintain special Covid-19 registers at respective gate entry points to capture and record results for temperature readings.”
Health authorities will be on the lookout to ensure health guidelines are strictly followed.
