progress with the registration of the Zimbabwe Handball Federation constitution after the association submitted their amended document yesterday.
The handball mother body was asked to amend their document on issues including the clarification of powers after they had mixed the powers of the president and the secretary-general.
Nyaundi said they had now forwarded the amended constitution to their legal department who would go through draft and put their input.
“They came with the draft yesterday (Tuesday). I corrected some of the things I saw and we forwarded it to our legal manager who will go through it before it is passed to the legal board.
“We are trying to have the document submitted to the board because they have four meetings in a year and they still have one more meeting before the end of the year.
“I have also sent a copy to the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, we have asked them to help so that when they (ZHF) have the polished document they won’t have a problem with ZOC. It was my initiative to send it there,” said Nyaundi.
Nyaundi said they are hoping to pass on the document to the commission’s board today who have a meeting today before it is submitted to the main board who are set to meet next month.
ZHF president Amon Madzvamuse said they are now waiting for communication from the Sports Commission after complying with the requirements set by the supreme sports body.
“We submitted our constitution to them. So far so good and we are now waiting for the board’s sitting on Thursday.
“However, we will only know by the end of October whether our constitution has been approved or not.
“For now they have accepted our document we handed over to them meaning we have touched on the grey areas they had indicated to us,” said Madzvamuse.
The national federation will be praying and hoping that everything goes well especially after spending more than a year trying to sort out the problems that have been haunting them since last year.
An election they held in August was nullified as the constitution they used to conduct the polls was illegitimate
This was discovered after the then outgoing president Agrippa Sora had raised a complaint to the Sports Commission challenging the legality of the constitution.
They were recommended by the Sports Commission to amend their constitution but there has been lack of co-operation between the executive members hence the continued delay of the registration process.
