THE Sport and Recreation Commission, Matabeleland North Province, is looking for volunteers for its Youth Sports Exchange Programme (YSEP) that will see youths posted to selected countries in Africa and to Norway.

According to the provincial sports co-ordinator, Newman Masuku, they are looking for volunteers who are active in sport, especially as coaches and must be under 25.

“Our volunteers are seconded to one of our partner organisations for 10 months where they will assist in implementing programmes and work on capacity building, help to develop good sport structures and create opportunities for youth participation in sports,” said Masuku.

The volunteers will be posted to either Norway, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda.

Youth Sports Exchange Programme is funded by Fredskorpset and co-ordinated by the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sport.

It provides an opportunity for young leaders and practitioners to share and gain competence in the field of sport development and for organisations to work closer through the exchange of personnel.

It is a youth exchange programme meant to share ideas, experiences and skills across borders. It has three components, South-South where African volunteers work in another organisation in Africa, South-North where African volunteers work in Norway and North-South, where Norwegian volunteers work in Zambia or Zimbabwe.
