SRI Lanka Cricket have pulled a surprise move by roping in their legendary sling-arm speedster Lasith “Slinga” Malinga ahead of their five-match white-ball battle against Zimbabwe.
The dreadlocked pace icon, who sits third on Sri Lanka’s all-time wicket charts, has been drafted into the coaching set-up to sharpen the islanders’ fast bowling attack.
Malinga linked up with the squad on Tuesday and will guide the quicks with tactical tips and lethal tricks until the team jets off to Harare on Friday.
The showdown is set for Harare Sports Club with two ODIs on August 29 and 31, before the fireworks of three T20Is on September 3, 6 and 7.
Both Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are keeping fans guessing as they are yet to drop their final squads for the series.
