Pike was impressed with the way they acquitted themselves.
“All the games we played were exciting and our last match against Hartman House was easy.
“All we needed was to pass the ball and defend well and get early goals.
“We enjoyed the match, I thank my dad who has always been there for me and praise be to my God.
“It was good we won,” said Pike.
The tournament was a wonderful outing for St Johns’ Prep school as they were the only undefeated side.
St John’s also demolished Borrowdale School 4-0 in the semi-final where Chareka scored two goals before Pike and Mwamuka scored added one each.
Gateway started their campaign on a good note, but failed to reach the semi-final.
They beat hosts Hellenic 2-0 in the opening game while Mthusani Jere was key in their win against Ariel School.
Hyundai gave the winners and the runners-up some prizes.
Chareka emerged as the top goal-scorer of the tournament while Gareth Chirawu was the best goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Hyundai chief sales consultant, Nelson Nyamayaro, said they were interested in playing a role in the growth of football.
“We were very glad to be the main sponsor of 5-A-side, it was a good tournament and we were motivated by the talent.
“It was a wonderful investment giving the players what we believe they needed for the tournament by putting the youth together and we are not only marketing our brand, but we are also investing in our youths.
“We are not only going to end with 5-Aside, but we are also going to assist the other sports disciplines and the under-privileged,” said Nyamayaro.
