St Joseph’s wins CASA competitions

ST Joseph’s of Mutare were crowned winners of this year’s Mutare Diocese Catholic Schools Association primary schools athletics competitions held at Rusape’s St Joseph’s Primary School.With a total of 24 medals, the winners amassed 12 gold, five silver and seven bronze medals.

However, St Columbus’ dominated the national CASA Games athletics competitions for secondary schools that were held at St Joseph’s High School in Rusape a week earlier.

In the primary schools competitions, Nyazura’s St Jude’s got nine gold, nine silver and six bronze medals to make a total of 24 and settle for second position, while hosts, St Joseph’s of Rusape came in third place with eight gold, 10 silver and nine bronze medals to give a total of 27 medals.

Fourth placed Triashill from Nyanga got eight gold medals, 10 silver and nine bronze, while St Columbus’ managed to snatch seven gold medals, six silver and five bronze. St Francis were sixth after getting four gold, four silver and three bronze medals, while Sacred Heart weighed in seventh position with four gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

In the eighth position was Mt Mellary with two gold, five medals, while St Killian’s came in ninth position with one gold, one silver and nine bronze medals. Mutiwegora and St Theresa came tenth and eleventh after managing to get three silver medals and one bronze medal as well as one silver medal, respectively.
