Stabbed for showing off

FOR buying his own beer, drinking while minding his own business at a local night club, a 32-year-old man was assaulted and stabbed with a broken empty bottle by three imbibers.

The three suspects also stole the man’s cellphone and US$35.

 

They vanished from Legends Night Club in Chikanga soon after assaulting and stabbing Allen Mawoneke in a toilet.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the incident, saying the three are still at large.

“The three suspects approached Mawoneke in the toilet where he was reliving himself. They accused him of being pompous and showing off with his money in the bar.

“One of the suspects broke an empty beer bottle and threatened to stab him with it. One of the suspects stabbed Mawoneke on the palm before stealing his cellphone and US$35.

“They three vanished from the scene. Mawoneke sustained deep cuts on the hand and was rushed to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for treatment,” he said.

He appealed to members of the public with information leading to the arrest of the three to contact their nearest police station.

“We urge imbibers to shun violence and enjoy in peace especially this festive season. We will not hesitate to arrest those who resort to violence,” he said.
