THE stage is set for the UK-based Thembalethu Foundation-sponsored Filabusi Tournament which will be held at Old Revolution Gcabayi Grounds on Sunday.
Gcabayi, Amazon, Teremial Victors and Insiza FC are the four teams that will fight it out for the trophy.
The tournament will be played in a knockout format.
Thembalethu Foundation organised the tournament to give youngsters a platform to showcase their talent.
Event organiser Stanley Dube said the preparations are at an advanced stage.
“Everything is going according to plan. We have received the trophy and medals. We are just doing final touches,” said Dube.
Dube encouraged the youngsters to play to their full potential as there were club scouts out to identify rural talent.
“We have been unfortunate in this area due to lack of funding as it hinders us from participating in competitive leagues and as such so much talent goes unnoticed. This is an opportunity for the boys,” he said.
Thembalethu Foundation has been helping in the area, as they have donated soccer kits to two local primary schools – Gcabayi and Amazon – he said.
Dube said all soccer enthusiasts should find their way to Filabusi on Sunday.
“It will be a good tournament. All soccer lovers, family and friends should come in numbers. This is not for Thembalethu Foundation only but for you as well. Your attendance and support will see this day being a success and some people’s lives transformed,” said Dube.
Thembalethu Foundation last week organised a Golden Oldies Tournament to honour former football players and legends that saw former Highlanders winning 5-4 over Bulawayo Select in a match that was played at White City Stadium.
