The stage is set and despite the chilly winter weather, the much-anticipated July Worship Music Festival is ready to ignite the hearts of gospel lovers.

Organisers have worked tirelessly to ensure that the event goes off without a hitch, promising warmth and joy through heaters for tomorrow’s event at Belgravia Sports Club.

This year, the concert will be hosted by Minister Micheal Mahendere, who is set to share the stage with an impressive line-up of artistes, including gospel stars Sharon and Ellard Cherayi, UK-based Zimbabwean Eleana Makombe, Blessing Jedthun, Nyasha Mutonhori and rising talents Samantha Harry and Cleo Arie, among others.

As the festival enters its fourth edition, many fans are eager to see if Minister Mahendere, an award-winning musician, has something special in store for them this year.

The excitement surrounding the event is palpable and the buzz is that he may introduce a fresh approach that will resonate with both old and new fans alike.

In an interview, Eugene Lingi, one of the event’s organisers, shared his enthusiasm: “The day has finally come, and we are happy with how this year’s edition is progressing.

“We improve by edition.

“The tickets are selling and I am happy that all the artistes are geared to perform.”

This sentiment reflects the collective anticipation of the festival, which has become a staple in the gospel music calendar.

The theme for this year’s festival is “Great Joy”, a fitting title that encapsulates the spirit of the event.

“What makes the event unique is every year, Minister Mahendere introduces new artistes to share the stage with big names in the gospel circles,” Lingi explained.

This year, the spotlight will shine on rising stars Samantha Harry and Cleo Arie, who are thrilled to have the opportunity to perform alongside established talents.

Samantha Harry, under the mentorship of Minister Mahendere, said is happy to participate alongside “big fishes” in the gospel industry.

She expressed her excitement about the event and her growth as an artiste.

“It’s all thanks to Minister Michael Mahendere who has been mentoring me in this music journey. It feels great, and it is a step in the right direction for my career. I look forward to actively contributing to the success of the event, worshipping together with the people in line with the Theme “Great Joy”.

Fans can expect a heartfelt ministration through song and worship, with Samantha set to perform her original songs “Hazviko” and “Tinokurira”.

Her enthusiasm is infectious as she prepares to share her talent with a wider audience, reflecting the festival’s aim to uplift and inspire through gospel music.

Although this year’s festival will take place over one day, organisers assure fans that they will still experience the full essence of the July Worship Music Festival they know and love.

They have also given opportunities to local stakeholders and organisations to exhibit their wares.

Last year’s event was a three-day extravaganza themed “Celebrating The Beauty of Diversity”, showcasing a range of talented gospel musicians. This year, the focus is on a more intimate yet powerful experience, allowing attendees to connect deeply with the music and message.

Minister Mahendere’s commitment to nurturing new talent is one of the hallmarks of the festival. By providing a platform for emerging artistes, he continues to foster a sense of community and collaboration within the gospel music scene.

The addition of artistes like Samantha and Cleo not only enriches the line-up but also reflects a commitment to cultivating the next generation of gospel musicians.

The atmosphere at Belgravia Sports Club is expected to be electric, with fans coming together to celebrate their faith through music.

The organisers are aware of the challenges posed by the winter chill but are determined to create an environment that feels warm and inviting.

“We want gospel fans to feel at home, even in this cold weather,” Lingi said.

Last year’s performers, including Minister Ellard, Janet Manyowa and others, set a high bar, and expectations are equally high for this year.

As the event approaches, the excitement continues to build. The July Worship Music Festival is more than just a concert; it is a celebration of faith, community and the transformative power of music.

With Minister Mahendere at the helm and a diverse array of talent gracing the stage, attendees can look forward to an inspiring and uplifting experience that will resonate long after the final note is played.
