STANBIC Bank Zimbabwe has won the prestigious Global Finance magazine’s emerging markets bank prize in Zimbabwe. The award comes a few months after the bank’s local team scooped the fraud stop award from its parent company, Standard Bank Group. This is the 22nd year that the Global Finance magazine has selected top banking performers in emerging markets.
The awards were presented last week in New York City in the United States of America.
The report covers the best banks in Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe chief executive officer Joshua Tapambgwa described the latest award as an inspiration.
“This award is further confirmation of Stanbic Bank’s commitment to Zimbabwe. We’re greatly honoured to be receiving this prestigious award. Our key focus will always be serving customer needs. This is shown through our investment in products and services that deliver superior service to our customers,” he said.
“We’ve also been involved in the communities that we operate in through various corporate and social responsibility initiatives including health support, sport, conservation, arts among others”, added Tapambgwa.
Standard Bank Group, one of Africa’s largest banks by assets, was also named the overall best emerging bank in Africa by Global Finance magazine.
The Global Finance editor, with input from industry analysts, corporate executives and banking consultants, selected the best emerging markets bank in the region.
The criteria for choosing the winners included growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative products.
