12 upcoming artistes who were rejected at Star Brite auditions this year have become stars in their own right as they are set to perform at the Harare Agricultural Show.
The artistes recently underwent a one week intensive vocal and arts performance workshop at Lake Chivero which was organised by Pad Arts.
Pad Arts is an organisation jointly formed by musicians Alexio Kawara, Dereck Mpofu and Pax Gomo.
Gospel musician Pax Gomo said the artistes have started preparing for the show ahead of their album launch to be held next month.
“The artistes will be in camp next week to do final touches. They are going to sample some of songs on the new album that will be launched on September 5,” he said.
Gomo said the group’s debut album carries 14 tracks.
“After completing the workshop, the artistes recorded their singles individually and there are two collaborative tracks they did as a group. Songs like ‘Ndoda Kusasana Newe’, ‘Kumafura Mhepo’ and ‘Ndiani’ were composed by Minister Francis Nhema while other tracks were composed by us,” he said.
Gomo said they decided to come with this initiative in order to transform the music industry.
“We decided to come up with this organisation after realising the need for established artistes to groom the upcoming talented artistes that lack training. We chose to start with this group because they had lost confidence in themselves and we wanted them to know that if one door closes another one opens,” he said.
