Star Fencing ups security ante

AT a time when security is becoming a concern for everyone, a Bulawayo company has come up with products tailor-made to meet the security needs of everyone- from the have and have-nots.

Star Fencing, has since its formation in 2005 grown to become a provider of a wide range of security fencing.

The company was founded by Mr Samson Mugari who was once employed by Fence Africa. Some of its products and services include fencing, razor wire, electric fencing, electric gate mortars, security screenings and carports.

In an interview, Star Fencing director Mr Mugari said the company has grown in leaps and bounds since its establishment.

“For the company to be where it is today it took sweat and blood. During the time I was employed at Fence Africa I saved up my salary and slowly began to buy machinery I needed to start my own company. I started working with some individuals from the western areas where I come from,” he said.

Mr Mugari said the company has done well through maintaining good relations with customers and delivering quality products.

“When starting a business being honest should be one of the key elements that one is supposed to possess. They should never cheat customers as this would help in maintaining good relations with them. It helps the company,” he said.

He added that one of the major challenges which the company is facing, just like other companies is shortage of foreign currency.

“As a company we are facing so many challenges but the main challenge we are facing is getting foreign currency. Importing raw materials requires foreign currency and when borrowing money from the bank they charge higher interest rates. However, as a businessman I have learnt that you have to sustain yourself with the little you get from customers,” said Mr Mugari.

Mr Mugari said the company has carried out big projects with well known stakeholders in the country.

“The company has been doing a big project at Delta and if you might go to that area all the fences that are there are labelled Star Fencing. Also we have worked with the Government such as the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing and I have also done projects with schools.

“We have also managed to be contracted by big companies outside Bulawayo for example in Beitbridge, Bulilima, Mangwe and even Binga,”  he said. (Advertorial )
