The winners got prizes including air tickets to the Olympic Games in London, hotel accommodation, breakfast and dinner, cash, and tickets to the games on August 6 and 7.
The games will be officially opened tomorrow and the winners will watch them for the two days.
Presenters and DJs from Star FM, who were dressed in T-Shirts bearing the logo of the station, entertained the crowd as the draw was being broadcast using the station’s state-of-the-art equipment.
Presenters Owen Madondo (Ola 7), Pathisani Sibanda, Itai Takaendesa (Ayati), Tariro Mazvarirwofa, Grace Chikaya and the master of ceremonies, Themba Mkandla, engaged in eating and dancing competitions before they announced the results of the six winners from Mutare, Bulawayo and Harare who will fly to the London Olympics with their partners.
This was then broadcast live on Star FM where DJ Munya and Nonkululeko Vundla (Blackbird) were in the studio.
Star FM sales and marketing manager Mr Piwai Dzuda said the first outside broadcasting was a major milestone for the new radio station.
“Star FM is the broadcast partner for the draw.
“This was the first time that we were doing an outside broadcast using our state-of-the-art equipment,” he said.
“As Star FM, our thrust is to create strategic partnerships with corporates like Innscor because our relationship with the business world is more relational than transactional.
“This is what distinguishes us from any other broadcaster in this country.”
Innscor’s marketing manager, Caroline Nyadzayo, said they were happy to partner with Star FM.
“The promotion has been running on Star FM for the past two weeks and since they are still new and showing a lot of professionalism, we thought it was the best moment to partner with them,” she said.
The winners were notified of their prizes over the phone.
They are: Tarisai Chibango (Mutare); Fortunate Makota, M. Muvingi (Bulawayo); Onesai Nyika, Sally Pettigrew and Taurai Chirungwa from Harare.
