HARARE – Star FM and the Premier Soccer League have launched a partnership that makes the station the official radio broadcaster of the top-flight football league.
The arrangement will see Star FM carrying official news from the PSL and running promotions where fans can win prizes from the PSL. Star FM will have exclusive commentary rights to PSL games under the deal, which runs until December 2015.
“We’re very excited as the Premier Soccer League to be in partnership with Star FM,” said PSL chief executive officer Kenny Ndebele.
“It’s exciting that we will have an official radio station that will be breaking news for us, communicating with our fans and running competitions where we can interact with football fans.
Since Star FM launched in June 2012 the station’s sports coverage has had a strong focus on local football, with commentaries every weekend attracting huge audiences.
Star FM’s acting general manager Darlick Marandure believes that the partnership fits both organisations perfectly.
“PSL football is a very important part of our programming, and we believe that this partnership will enable us to give listeners better coverage of the local league,” he said.
Star FM’s coverage of the PSL will continue this Sunday with live coverage of the One Wallet final between Dynamos and Triangle at the National Sports Stadium. – Star FM
