Popular radio station, Star FM, paid homage to its stakeholders through an intimate breakfast meeting that was held at a local hotel yesterday. The station that turns two tomorrow brought together its advertisers, advertising agencies, partners, presenters and top Zimpapers staff at a breakfast meeting that was held at a Harare hotel as celebrations to mark the celebration intensify.
“This is our way of saying thank you for the support to our advertisers and partners who have been giving us business all this while.
“We wanted to reconnect with them away from the usual formal environment that we usually interact under,” said Star FM programmes manager Comfort Mbofana.
He added that the interaction was also meant to bring out the faces behind the voices that advertisers normally hear on radio.
He said this making reference to various presenters that he said had been turned into stars by Star FM.
“We are proud of many accomplishments that we have made during the short time we have been on the airwaves, thanks to the support that has come through from those who believe in us.
“We have made stars out of presenters and today they can go and broadcast anywhere in the world because of the exposure,” he said.
The audience got to see Star FM’s top presenters in action – the likes of Simbarashe “Godfatha Templeman” Maposa and Godfrey “Chief Koti” as they showed that they can hold their own in front of any mike, even ones in front of live audiences rather than in the studio.
The station’s “Breakfast Show” listeners were made part of the event as there was live broadcasting from the hotel.
Bongai “Zam” Zamchiya also presented the programme, “Word of the Day” during one of the live crossovers.
Songbird Cynthia Mare gave a top class performance at the intimate event.
Zimpapers group business development and marketing director Mr Tapuwa Mandimutsira spoke: “I want to thank you all for supporting Zimpapers’ baby, Star FM. We have more coming up in future,” he said.
He encouraged people to be forthcoming with criticism as well, saying it was the only way the station was going to grow.
There are other events planned including celebrations on Friday and something special for the Bulawayo audiences.
