Former Starbrite winner and Chinhoyi-based jazz crooner, Bryan Kadengu is set to launch his debut single entitled “Kumusha” tomorrow at the Chinhoyi University of Technology Hotel, a venue that is emerging as the prime jazz joint in Mashonaland West.
The 2012 Starbrite winner who performs at the CUT Hotel every Thursday will use this occasion to formally launch his music career by dishing out his hottest hits that have made him a household name in this normally sleepy town.
Born 21 years ago, Bryan started singing at the age of 10 at Chaedza Primary School in Chinhoyi. Inspired by the Deverangwena Jazz Band and Mathew “Mateo” Kaunda, Bryan started playing guitar in 2007 having been introduced to the instrument by his friend Maxwell Chiungwe also of Chinhoyi.
Bryan did not look back after emerging the Starbrite winner and through the numerous challenges that he encountered, the artiste persevered.
“Bryan has passion for jazz and mature music and we saw it fit to assist him in launching his career as a youngster growing up in our neighbourhood.
“Bryan with his small band needs the attention of promoters because his music is mature and inspiring. His talent cannot go to waste” said Musekiwa Tapera, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at CUT Hotel.
Bryan has a couple of awards to his name which include the Best Entertainer award by the Environmental Management Agency (2012), the Most Promising Artiste by the Zimbabwe Germany Society 2011 and Achiever of the Year 2012 by MetBank.
Bryan and his Afro Soul group have been supporting acts for Oliver Mtukudzi, Jonah Moyo and Victor Kunonga.
