State withdraws charges against bouncers

THE State yesterday withdrew charges against two bouncers who were facing attempted murder charges.

Gideon Sanyangore and Blessing Kumunda appeared before regional magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni where the charges were withdrawn before plea.

Prosecutor Zvikomborero Mupasa made the application saying the complainants were no longer interested in pursuing the matter.

The two were arrested following a public outcry after a video of them assaulting patrons and swinging a knife that reportedly stabbed another bouncer’s hands at Pabloz Night Club in Borrowdale last December, went viral on social media.

After the Pabloz attack, several music promoters, night club owners and revellers complained about the pair’s conduct.

Magistrate Mthombeni asked the two complainants, who are also bouncers, whether they were the ones who had deposed the affidavits and they confirmed.

They told the court that they were no longer interested in pursuing the matter because they had resolved their issues with the duo, who are their colleagues in their profession.
