ZANU-PF’S leadership in Masvingo has warned party youths against invading farms belonging to former party members saying every Zimbabwean is entitled to land. This comes in the wake of reports of the recent unsanctioned invasion of a sugarcane estate belonging to opposition politician and former Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs Mr Kudakwashe Bhasikiti in Chiredzi by some youths.
Acting Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Amasa Nhenjana said the party respects the rule of law and would not stoop low to the extent of occupying other people’s farms without offer letters.
He said the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement Dr Douglas Mombeshora has said there must be no land invasions and the party in Masvingo is in support of the order.
“We are a law abiding party. All Zimbabweans have a right to land as President Robert Mugabe has said at different fora. We don’t condone the behaviour of some of our youths who want to tarnish the image of the party through land invasions,” said Cde Nhenjana.
“When you see some youths invading people’s farms they are not doing that with our blessings. I have heard of such complaints and as acting chairman, I am warning those who may want to play truant and invade people’s farms in the name of Zanu-PF.
“Lands and Resettlement Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora has ordered people not to invade land anymore and we abide by this order.”
Cde Nhenjana said the Masvingo provincial leadership was seized with preparations for the forthcoming Zanu-PF’s conference to be held in December in the province and they do not expect any disturbances.— @ walterbmswazie2
