STER Kinekor lost more than US$12 000 to a supervisor who stole the money from sales and staged a fake break-in.
Munyaradzi Taruvinga (26), who worked at Ster Kinekor Sam Levy’s Village, appeared in court yesterday.
Allegations are that on May 1, Taruvinga collected cash from cashiers which he was supposed to put in the safe before leaving work.
He was the custodian of the safe keys, as well as the entrance and exit keys, as the supervisor.
The following day Taruvinga informed his supervisors that there was a break-in and US$12 146 was stolen, and a police report was made.
During investigations, the police discovered that there was no break-in, or any signs of forced entry into the premises or the safe.
In fact, the door to the cash office could only be accessed by him as it used a biometric identification system.
The police arrested Taruvinga and he led them to his house where they recovered US$10 250 from his wardrobe.
