Stevie speaks. . . Prove yourself Marve!

ASTON Villa manager, Steven Gerrard, says he has given Marvelous Nakamba another chance to prove himself.

He wants the Zimbabwe international midfielder to show more hunger.

Nakamba and Morgan Sanson have been on the periphery of the Villa squad.

The Warriors star is yet to feature in any game this season, having failed to secure a move away from Villa Park.

Villa are said to have created conditions which made it virtually impossible for Nakamba to leave.

“First and foremost, in football you have to motivate yourself,” said Gerrard.

“But, in terms of the collective, I try to motivate the players, for every single game.

“But, you’ve got to be professional, that’s what you’re paid to be.” Gerrard was speaking to The Birmingham Mail ahead of tomorrow’s visit by Southampton.

“Nothing can change, as of now, the window’s shut so there should be a hunger, and a will to want to perform, and do the best they can.

“They (Nakamba and Sanson) are contracted to Aston Villa and I’ll certainly get a feel of all those players, of where they are at, with their thinking.

“With what they tell me, and the feedback I get, we’ll go from there,” he said.
