As they inch closer towards an elusive album release, Kalawa Jazzme kwaito signees Stiff have released a clothing range that signals their intention to make money from other ventures besides music.
Fronted by Bulawayo born Diliza, Stiff has been waiting for an album release date over the last few years, with fans hoping that they would follow up on the momentum set by their smash hit Umcimbi.
Despite a few impressive cameos on songs by other artistes and a few singles of their own, Stiff’s album has remained shelved at Kalawa, as the tough to please boss at the label, Oskido, will only allow them to release a polished product worth the stable’s name.
However, the group has decided not to sit on its laurels while they work with the chefs at Kalawa cooking up their upcoming effort. Teaming up with the label’s designer Mokiti, the group is now selling Stiff branded clothing apparel.
‘We teamed up with Mokiti who designed the Kalawa merchandise to come up with our own line. This is something that has been in the works for a while,” said Diliza.
With the clothing line still in its infancy, Diliza said they were only selling to those that placed pre-orders with them.
“As of now this merchandise started by us Stiff while we are very much mobile. We sale and deliver to those that have placed preorders,’ he said.
With a single already released and a customary end of year visit to Zimbabwe pending, Diliza said they would be bringing their merchandise to the country of his birth.
‘We will be definitely bringing the label home because we want to spread it as far and wide as possible,’ he said.
