Stock feed thieves to do unpaid work

of Muriwai Farm in Beatrice and his accomplice Hilton Zvamaimboti (25) of Lisbon Extension pleaded guilty to a charge of theft when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini recently.

Kakora who was employed as a general worker at the farm connived with Zvamaimboti to steal from his paymaster.

The complainant is Norman Cathro, employed as a manager at the farm.
Mr Jarabini slapped the pair with a 10-month prison term each, of which four months were suspended for five years.

The remaining six months were suspended on condition that they each complete 210 hours of community service at Mupfure Police station in Beatrice.

Prosecutor Mr Lovet Muringwa proved that on December 23 last year at around 6pm, the two hatched a plan to steal and they proceeded to the store room where Kakora worked. Once inside, they took 16 by 25 kilogramme bags of stock feed and hid the contraband in the bush.

At around 10pm, the two loaded the loot into a scotch cart and proceeded to plot 7 at Zvamaimboti’s house.

The pair later sold the stock feed to Erick Charles Mazhambe of Lisbon farm.
A report was made to the police who, acting on a tip off, went to Mazhambe’s place together with Cathro, where they found the loot.
