RENOWNED street musician, Daniel Gonyora, is appealing to authorities to consider him to be part of the cast of artists who will perform at Independence Gala set for Murambinda, Buhera, this week.
Daniel is a visually impaired musician.
He is the leader of Gonyora Sounds.
He told H-Metro that he was desperate to leave the streets.
“I am growing old playing on the streets for peanuts, if I can be counted among other artists in performing at night clubs and hotels, it will make a difference for me,” said Daniel.
“Ko kuIndependence kurikuendavakadii?
“Ndaidawo kumbonoridzirawo kwaMarambinda kwacho ikoko kana chikumbiro changu chikanzwikwa.
“Spending days on streets is not by choice but circumstances beyond my control and the eagerness to support my family.”
He added:
“Ukawona murume mukuru akaitaseni akutenga kahupfu keUS$3 ziva kuti zvawoma, ndibatsireiwo mhuri yeZimbabwe.
“Music promoters and renowned musicians should also consider me for curtain raising.
“Ndanzwa nekutsva nezuva pamwe nekunairwa madhora matatu zuva rose.”
He hailed Alick Macheso sons, Esau and Tatenda, for engaging his son, Isaac, to play their drums.
His other son, Proud, 12, replaced Isaac as the Gonyora Sounds drummer.
Daniel also appealed to radio DJs to consider playing his songs on air.
