Hunt For Greatness
Milton Kamwendo
Every building, body and belief system rises or collapses on its core strength.
The core determines endurance. It defines how much pressure you can carry. It determines how long you can stand and how far you can go. When the core is weak, everything else shakes. When the core is strong, storms may come, but you remain standing.
Strengthening your core is fortifying your foundation. It is to build from the inside out.
This is where real strength begins.
An inside job
Strength does not begin with muscles or money. Strength is an inside job. It begins with the mindset and meaning. True strength starts from within.
The Bible, in Proverbs 18:14, declares: “The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but a broken spirit who can bear?”
What keeps you going when things fall apart is what is within you. Winds may blow, the world may change, economies may wobble, people may disappoint you, but if your inner man is strong, you will still rise. Your core determines your ability to bounce back to better levels.
Your internal health determines your external fruit. When your heart, values and convictions are anchored, you stand strong. You are not easily shaken by gossip, delay or drought. Like a tree whose roots go deep, you draw sustenance from unseen wells even in dry seasons.
Core of your identity
To strengthen your core, begin by knowing who you are and whose you are. Many are weakened by identity crises. They are tossed by comparison, applause and approval. When you are grounded in your divine identity, you do not chase shadows. You live from conviction, not confusion. Strengthen your identity. Be grounded in faith. Your strength is not in titles, possessions or popularity. Be grounded in something that does not shift. When your identity is rooted, life cannot easily uproot you.
Core of your character
Character is the invisible spine of strength. A person without character may look strong for a moment, but like a balloon, they deflate under pressure. Integrity is the steel that holds your structure together. It is what makes your word trustworthy and your influence enduring. In a world where shortcuts are celebrated and principles seem optional, strength is found in choosing the hard right over the easy wrong. Strong people are not perfect. They are principled. They stand for something even when it costs them comfort.
Core of your convictions
Convictions are anchors of strength. They give you direction when the world is noisy and confusing. To strengthen your core is to clarify what you truly believe and why. If you can be grounded in your reasons, the action and motivation are taken care of. Settle the non-negotiables of your life. Decide what you will stand for long before any test comes. Weak convictions create weak lives. Strong convictions produce strong legacies.
Core of your purpose
Purpose is the compass of the strong. It fuels resilience and focus. Without purpose, strength is wasted in distractions. People who know why they exist do not give up easily. They interpret pain as training, not punishment.
Knowing your purpose gives you strength to endure. Purpose gives you passion. Purpose gives you persistence and staying power. Strengthen your sense of purpose through prayer, journaling, reflection and consistent action. See the bigger picture.
Ask yourself daily: Why am I here, and what must I do with what I have?
When your purpose is clear, your power flows freely.
Core of your relationships
No one stands strong alone. Strength multiplies through connection and relationships. Surround yourself with people who strengthen your faith, feed your vision and sharpen your focus.
Exit toxic relationships and ecosystems of negativity. Relationships are the arteries through which encouragement, wisdom and support flow. Choose wisely who you allow to influence your inner circle.
Weak company weakens conviction. Strong company strengthens destiny.
Core of spiritual renewal
At the heart of every strong person is a strong spiritual life. Spiritual disciplines provide strength. The secret place is either where you are strengthened or where you are destroyed. What you do in secret gives you core strength or drains your core. In the secret place of prayer, strength is restored, direction is received and peace is renewed.
A strong prayer life is a hidden gym for spiritual muscles. When you strengthen your core, you emerge with quiet confidence and unshakeable fortitude.
Core of daily habits
Strength is not built in a day; it is built daily. You cannot visit the gym once and call yourself fit. Strengthening your core requires daily habits of thought, discipline and devotion.
Feed your mind with inspiring and expanding literature. Feed your heart with gratitude. You become what you put in.
Every day, make a conscious decision to fortify your inner man. Make powerful and inspiring declarations. Speak life to yourself. Guard your heart. Train your focus. Reflect before reacting. Plan and work your plan. Small daily disciplines create a deep reservoir of strength that sustains you in crisis.
The strong shall stand
In a fragile world, strength is a necessity. To strengthen your core is to prepare for life’s tests before they arrive. The storms will come, but they cannot sink what has a solid foundation. Decide to strengthen your inner life: your faith, your focus, your values and your purpose.
When your core is strong, your destiny will be steady. The strength you build today becomes the stability you stand on tomorrow.
Keep in mind the words of Robert Jordan, who aptly said: “The oak fought the wind and was broken; the willow bent when it must and survived.”
Committed to your greatness.
