Following a fire on an Air Busan plane in January, South Korea introduced new aviation safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
Starting March 1, passengers can carry up to five portable batteries of 100 watt-hours each, while batteries over 160 watt-hours are banned.
Charging power banks on planes is also prohibited, and power banks and e-cigarettes are no longer allowed in overhead cabin bins.
These measures aim to address fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, though the exact cause of the Air Busan fire remains under investigation. – Reuters
