The 2018 season is no exception when it comes to local players crossing the Limpopo into South Africaas top two leagues.

After lighting up the 2017 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League with crucial goals, top goal scorer and former Caps United striker Dominic Chungwa signed with South African side Polokwane City.

Cameroon international and Dynamos forward Christian Epoupa is also linked with a move to join the a?University Boysa? Bidvest Wits and reports indicate that his trial stint is at an advanced stage.

However, the question which has been of debate is whether the duo will be able to replicate their goal poaching form in the Absa Premier League?

A lot of players have in the past excelled in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer league only to become flops in the Absa Premier League.

Denver Mukamba, the Soccer Star of the year in 2012, failed to make an impact at Bidvest Wits.

Mukamba only managed to start five games in two seasons, and was loaned the remainder of his four-year contract to University of Pretoria and Jomo Cosmos.

.

Ovidy Karuru also had his contract terminated by Kaizer Chiefs in 2016 after he failed to impress in South Africa.

How Mine midfielder Milton Ncube signed with Ajax Cape Town from Bulawayo giants Highlanders only to be offloaded in 2016 after he proved to be of less use in the team.

Ncube was released by Ajax Cape Town together with ex-Highlandersa striker Thomas Chideu and was quoted saying:

a?Lack of game time at Ajax also didnat help at all; thatas why itas important to move to a club where I can start playing regular soccer again.a?

With a number of these renowned players failing to make it in South Africa, the question is will the duo of Epoupa and Chungwa survive?
