THERE is no need to take a long trip down to South Africa to watch strippers do their thing as Private Lounge, a new venue in downtown Harare, has drawn big crowds.
The professional strippers delight in tips that rain on stage and to show the striptease is being done at an elaborate level patrons actually observe the ultimate strip rule which says: “Do not touch”.
“We do not allow cameras inside the club. You are lucky we could have thrown you out. Kindly delete the pictures you’ve taken,” one bouncer said.
Well, if you dare break the rule or at least take pictures using your smartphone the bouncers will be ready to pounce on you.
Coupled with the dancing there are the flashy lights, cool ambience and well-stocked bar in the club which are a major draw card at the hangout.
Patrons pay US$5 at the door but the charge goes up after midnight when patrons are expected to fork out as much as US$10
According to the internet, striptease is defined an erotic or exotic dance in which the performer gradually undresses, either partly or completely, in a seductive and sexually suggestive manner.
The person who performs a striptease is commonly known as a “stripper” or exotic dancer.
“The emphasis is on the act of undressing along with sexually suggestive movement, rather than the state of being undressed. In the past, the performance often finished as soon as the undressing was finished, though today’s strippers usually continue dancing in the nude. The costume the stripper wears before disrobing can form part of the act.”
Private Lounge owner Biggie Chinoperekwei confirmed hosting “striptease” and that they were operating within the law.
“What we do at the club is called striptease. We are fully aware of the law and what is being done is not outside the law,” he said.
