adminSTRUGGLING Hwange managed to snatch a point from Maglas when they held the hosts in a Castle Lager Premiership encounter at Maglas yesterday.
The match was a counter attraction to the Tripple B/Highlanders match which was across town at Mandava but the home fans chose to go and support their team with just a few neutrals attending the Bosso match.
Both matches could have attracted a bumper crowd had the PSL slotted the other match for Thursday.
Luke “Vahombe” Masomere still has the belief that Shabanie will not be relegation material this year.
“My team tried everything to get a result but it was not our day. We should have scored in the second half but we could not find the target. I am smelling relegation but tichamira mira sevabereki”, he said
Hwange could have surged ahead in the eighth minute when Isaac Masame got a loose ball in the box from a Farayi Vimisayi cross on the right but with Victor Twaliki to beat he blasted his effort over the bar.
Twaliki was then called to do duty for Shabanie in the 12th minute.
Vimisayi powered a rising shot and the tall goalkeeper blocked his effort back into play and the alert Shabanie Mine defenders cleared the ball to safety.
Farai Mususunye the scorer of the goal that earned Shabanie their first victory against FC Platinum got a glaring chance in the 20th minute but he directed his effort wide off a Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe cross.
Hwange’s Pritchard Mpelele could have put the coalminers in the driving seat a minute from the breather. He got to the end of a Vimisayi cross after Twaliki made a mess of the cross as he failed to save it but he failed to find the target.
Nation Dube the Hwange coach was happy for snatching a point from the Maglas.
“We had a good first half and we should have buried them but we failed to convert our chances. Otherwise it was a very good game”, Dube said.
The coalminers are having an indifferent start to the season and have managed just one win in seven attempts.
