ZANU PF Women’s League top official dies

ZANU PF Women’s League Deputy Secretary for Mines and Energy, Cde Mabel Nkatazo, has died.

She reportedly collapsed and died yesterday evening.

Confirming the death, ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for External Affairs Cde Betty Kaseke said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cde Nkatazo. She collapsed and passed on yesterday (Friday) evening,” said Cde Kaseke.

Cde Nkatazo was a veteran party cadre whose political career spanned several decades.

She served as a war collaborator during the liberation struggle between 1973 and 1975 before joining various leadership structures within ZANU PF after Independence.

Over the years, she held several positions, including ZANU PF chairwoman for Juru District, vice secretary for administration in the Women’s League in Mashonaland East Province, and secretary for economic affairs.

She also served as councillor for Ward 8 in Goromonzi Rural District Council and was a member of the ZANU PF Mashonaland East Provincial Committee.

In 2013, Cde Nkatazo became the first Women’s Quota Member of Parliament for Murehwa.

At the time of her death, she was serving as ZANU PF Women’s League Deputy Secretary for Mines and Energy.
