A FORM Four Student at Mzilikazi High School is lucky to be alive after he was recently kidnapped and severely attacked before he was allegedly robbed of his cellphone and shoes.

The incident was confirmed by Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.

“I would like to urge members of the public not to trust anyone they meet and they should not get close to strangers or allow them closer to them especially those who would be driving,” he said.

A source close to the incident said while the 16-year-old boy was walking to school along Jason Moyo Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue, a vehicle abruptly stopped in front of him.

One of the kidnappers alighted from the car and grabbed the boy before they bungled him into the car, said the source. They drove at a high speed towards Mzilikazi High School and stopped a few metres before the school.

“They covered his face with a piece of cloth and stuffed a piece of cloth into his mouth, after that they thrashed him with a rope all over the body demanding money. The boy did not have money. They took his cellphone and shoes. They dumped him in the bush,” said the source.

The boy later uncovered his face and headed to his home. He narrated the ordeal to his mother. The matter was reported at Bulawayo Central Police Station.
