YOUNG entrepreneurs are the key to opening the country’s potential, and can harness their skills to ensure that they create long lasting opportunities that will benefit them in the future, a business executive has said.
Addressing students at Hillside Teachers’ College yesterday during an organised lecture, business executive and United Refineries Limited chief executive officer Mr Busisa Moyo said despite the country being faced with challenges there were opportunities at the end of the road.
“Zimbabwe is going through what any other thriving African country is going or went through. It is up to us to have the right mindset. We are hard working people and we thrive by all means to make a living. We have young and old people who can bring the light of our nation, which will be not hiding from other nations,” said Mr Moyo.
He said in spite of the harsh economic challenges being faced by the country there were innovative minds that have the potential to turn the country’s fortunes around. Mr Moyo, during the engagement, urged youths to be innovative enough to establish their own companies and not all desire to work for already established corporations.
“If we don’t harness the skills and innovations of our people, other nations will be busy luring them with greener pastures and reaping from our sweat. It is up to us to develop ourselves. You don’t want to wake up and find yourself working for another person and have a paltry pension when you had the opportunity and potential to establish yourself,” said Mr Moyo.
