Top local hip-hop gurus Stunner and Maskiri’s promised collaboration will not materialise after indications that Maskiri grudgingly pulled out of the deal. It has been revealed Maskiri was not happy with the presentation of the song and working conditions. The song dubbed “Cross Country” is set to be released next month.
Desmond Chideme aka Stunner has confirmed the latest developments.
“We agreed on doing a duet with Maskiri and we did some lines together but I was surprised by his behaviour. He never came back to finish the song as agreed. I tried calling him on his phone but he was not picking up the calls,” he said.
The “Team Hombe” hit-maker said he had already finished the song. “I am done with recording and I can confirm that Maskiri is no longer part of the song. Time is not on our side. I will be releasing the song soon,” he said.
Efforts to get a comment from Masikiri were fruitless because his mobile phone was not reachable.
His manager Ishmael Chibvunye said he was not told of the latest development.
“It’s news to me. I know Maskiri is still on the song and they have already finished the recording.
“We are happy about it as it is a good song. Maskiri is the one featuring on Stunner’s song, so according to the owner he has to ride on the chosen beat. He did his chorus. We now wait for its release. ”However, some sources revealed that the duo fell-out after Maskiri- real name Alishias Musimbe — said he would finish his chorus part at home.
“Maskiri seemed not so happy about how Stunner was acting on their collaboration.
“He did his part of the chorus and part of the bridge. He said he was going to write the verse at home.
“That was the last time Maskiri was seen at the studio,” revealed a close source.
