A 33-YEAR-OLD woman allegedly struck her 85-year-old lover with an axe following a bedroom dispute over just US$10.

There was a social media frenzy last month when B-Metro broke the initial story.

The old man, at the time, told police he did not know the woman who attacked him, after demanding sex from him.

Bulawayo’s Kensington suburb was left buzzing after word spread that Brenda Munjacki, who appeared in court with a baby strapped to her back and rocking a green prison dress, had nearly sent old man Roni Moyo to the ancestors over a measly note.

In court, Brenda looked as calm as a Sunday breeze, showing zero remorse, while Roni hobbled in with bandages and stitches criss-crossing his neck and head like a map of Bulawayo’s roads.

The incident occurred on 9 August, turning what was supposed to be a “happy hour” into a horror show.
Prosecutor Jethro Mada, told the court that Brenda went to Roni’s house after a drinking spree. There, the two reportedly engaged in adult gymnastics before things went south when Roni allegedly refused to part with the promised US$10 “thank you fee.”

According to Roni, he was relaxing peacefully at home when he heard a loud knock on his door. Thinking it was young boys coming to fetch water from his borehole, he opened the door, only to find Brenda storming in.

“She took the baby off her back, placed her on the floor, and climbed onto my bed like she owned the place,” Roni told the court, drawing chuckles from the gallery.

Roni said when he tried to chase her away, she refused to leave, demanding her US$10. When he declined, Brenda allegedly picked up a small axe hidden under the bed and struck him on the neck and back of the head.

A young boy outside fetching water screamed for help, alerting neighbours who rushed in and saved the octogenarian.

Roni told the court he received six stitches on the neck and three on his head and still cannot turn his neck properly.

Brenda, however, claimed self-defence, saying Roni was the one who grabbed the axe first and tried to attack her.

The case continues on 5 September, leaving the neighbourhood divided over who was really out of line — the young woman, the old man, or the US$10 note.
