is ready for the Mr Iron Man bodybuilding competition in August.
Chimuchenga was the last man to win the premier event when it was held at New Ambassador Hotel in Harare in 2008.
The Iron Man contest has been off the radar since then as the organisers failed to find sponsorship in 2009 and 2010.
But the event is making a return at Ochi City in the capital on August 6 and Sugar has already thrown his name into the hat.
The 40-year old Chimuchenga is just itching to flex his muscles after winning the Mr Pro-Fitness and the Muscle and Fitness Open competitions last year.
He has also won the Mr Zimbabwe Trade Fair and hopes to use the Mr Mutare show, scheduled for next month, to shape up for the Iron Man.
“If one looks at the time I have gone without competition, then it is just too long.
“One can easily lose shape. It is unfortunate we did not getany invitations on the international arena.
“I will try to take part at the Mr Mutare next month but if I am not successful then my next competition will be on 6August at the Mr Iron Man,” said Chimuchenga.
Chimuchenga also won the Mr Botswana titles in 2009 and 2010 and is now expected to be the major drawcard at the revived Iron Man that is set to attract some of the top bodybuilders in Zimbabwe. Tofara Moyo, chairperson of the Mashonaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association said preparations to host the event were well on course.
Moyo is hopeful of a successful show after Ochi City hosted the Mr Novice competition last year.
“This time we have been approached by the national association to host the Mr Iron Man.
“As Mashonaland, we then decided to shelve the Mr Novice and work on reviving the bigger Mr Iron Man.
“Ochi City, in conjunction with Mashonaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, will be holding the Mr Iron Man on August 6,” said Moyo.
He said they have added a new category for people with disabilities.
“This year promises to be bigger and better with the inclusion of a new category for athletes with disabilities.
“As an association, we feel this move will promote the sport as bodybuilding has taken a nose-dive over the years,” said Moyo.
