Sugar Sugar hits back at ZMC

unceremoniously ditched the recording company for Metro Studios.
“The company used me, they sold my music and I did not get even a cent and yet they want to sue me.
“I am the one who should be suing them because they got money out of my name, I am so bitter about it,” fumed Sugar Sugar.
Contacted for comment, an official from ZMC said he was not at liberty to discuss Manjokota’s contract with the media until they settled their differences with the musician.
For all his fame, Sugar Sugar has nothing to show for it and actually lives in a single room in Budiriro.
The musician was recently threatened with eviction by the owner of the house after failing to pay his rent.
The musician blamed the recording company for his woes.
“ZMC made my life difficult, in the absence of live shows, royalties should look after the welfare of artistes but the last time I went there I was told by those in the accounts department that there was no money.
“The other time they made me sit and wait for hours on end and I still went home empty-handed,” said Manjokota.
The Budiriro-based musician, who shed tears as he narrated his ordeal, said he has been having problems with the recording company and at one time, they failed to release his albums on time.
“I used to work with them amicably but the problems started after they failed to release my albums on time and I had proposed them to shoot videos for my songs but they reneged on the idea,” said the hoarse-voiced musician.
The musician said he was grateful that Metro Studios had given him instruments after penning a contract with the recording company.
“I didn’t have the instruments for all the years I was with ZMC, but I have found a new home and I think this will give me a new lease of life,” he said.
Manjokota seems to have a knack for controversy.  Sometime last year, he fought with Last Power Recording Studios, which he also accused of not honouring their promises.
The “Juliana” hitmaker made his breakthrough in the music industry in 2003, with his album titled “Zvirimukati”, which carries songs like “Pandaironga”, “Yofamba Famba”, “Samaita” and “Juliana”.
