Sugarcane farmers donate to Chiredzi Hospital

Hippo Valley Productive Sugarcane Farmers Association (HVPSFA) last week donated goods worth over $3 000 to Chiredzi General Hospital as part of its community social responsibility initiatives. Goods donated included washing powder, soft drinks and buckets.

HVPSFA chairman Mr Marius Dzinoreva described the donation as a Chirstmas present to children at the hospital.

“We agreed as an association to make a special Christmas gesture to children hospitalised at Chiredzi General Hospital during this festive season. This is our token as beneficiaries of the Land-Reform Programme to our surrounding communities.

“It is our belief and hope that this donation will put a smile on these children and also help address some of the challenges this institution is facing in terms of service delivery,” said Mr Dzinoreva.

Chiredzi District Administrator Mr Lovemore Chisema challenged other corporates to emulate HVPSFA.

“The doctors treat but God heals and as an association you have contributed towards the healing process of these children during their stay at this hospital.

“As a district we really appreciate such cooperate social responsibility programmes. It is of paramount importance for us to continue teaching the society not to rely only on non-governmental organisations and the Government to help the less fortunate. We encourage other institutions and individuals to be actively involved in such issues,” he said.
